Defsounds

Before I start this blog, I would like to thank all of my Defsounds brothers and sisters who read the "What the Fck is Being Real? Part I" blog. I really appreciate it and from the comments that I read, I can see hope for the future.

Most people did get the point of the blog, but some did not; I read a comment that talked about snitching, it read _"daddydaddy, are you tryin to support snitchin with this blog, i think you pro-snitch my nigga, this blog sounds to anti-gangsta for me!"

I hope that whoever wrote this comment was not serious at all, but it brought something that is commonly talked about in our hip hip hop and black communities: SNITCHIN

For those who do not know, snitchin means to act as an informant or a decoy for the police.
This brought something to my mind, where is the line traced when it comes to snitchin?

I grew up in the hood myself, and I have been to many hoods even overseas.
The mentality in the hood is that of "Fuck the Police" which is a understandable since the law does not do minorites justice especially black people here in America.
I am pretty sure that most of you are familiar with the Rodney King incident and the most recent Sean Bell shooting in New York, and many many others.

The thing is that many people have a misconception about snitching. Many people define it from what they hear about in songs, hear people talk about , but they don’t really know what snitching is.

I don’t want niggas to get the impression that I am telling them to go out there and snitch or talk on business that is not theirs.

But I am going to raise a question: Let us say that u was walking around, and you peeped in an alley, and you saw five dudes that you recognize ( let us say that you are cool with them) raping a girl (no matter what age); what would you do?

Would you tell on them? If so, then would that be snitching? The answer is yours.

This brings me back to the whole situation with my niggus in the hood, and also to the whole topic about being real.

You see, us black people have been stripped of our identities, we have been brainwashed over the years and we have gotten lazy. Don’t knock me for telling the truth fam! I am black myself and it hurts putting it down like this.

You see Malcolm X once said "Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you’re a man, you take it."
That is the problem with many niggas, you see some niggas take their freedom, and some nigus are given it.

The niggas that take their freedom are the ones who work hard to make it somewhere in life without depending on anyone else (especially the white guy). These are also the nigus who don’t blame other people for their mistakes or failures because they know that it is part of the process.
One can never learn unless he or she never makes mistakes.

The niggas who are given their freedom are the niggas who take shit for granted. If they are eligible to get a foodstamp, they will go for it, or whatever.
This is the beginnig of dependance because if someone gave you freedom, he can take it whenever he wants. If some one gave you freedom, they can manipulate you with it because they set the rules for it. If shit is given to you, it is limited, the giver hands you as much as he wants, but if you are taking something you will try to take as much as you want.

Now let us go back to the years that niggas became free(60’s, 50’s, years of the movements), do you think they were given their freedom or they took it?
I believe that most of niggas were given their freedom, which has kept many of us in a trap.
Because if you analyze it, they wanted integration which is defined as "__The bringing of people of different racial or ethnic groups into unrestricted and equal association, as in society or an organization._"
If you analyze it, this process was used to make black people equal in a white society instead of creating a black and white society.
It might sound racist, but in this society if it is not white, it is not right. We see this through jobs, what is considered to be professional, etc.
For example if you don’t speak white, you don’t speak right.

I remember when I moved to New Hampshire for the first time, these to white girls I was talking to asked "Why do you speak that way?" and went on to tell me that I should learn how to speak like them.
Now if we are equal, then why should I learn how to speak like a white person in order to be considered for a certain profession, or to be considered proper?

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying that they should let people get their doctorates while slanging and shit. I mean we all need education.

The point that I am trying to make is: why is there not as much effort put in the hoods on education as the other parts of the country? The schools are fucked up, and the budgets are low.
One of the solutions to this problem could be to give all children the same opportunity. That would be right since we supposedly are equal, but the truth is that we really are not.

Let me get to the point that I am trying to make with the blog. I know that it is fucked up for us black people, many of us are locked up, drug dealers, etc. And this is all the product of our environments. But there is always a way out.

The sad thing is that many of us have been tricked to accepting these conditions. We have been masked with rights that we don’t have. Because if we were free, then how come a third of us is in prison? We are still getting harassed by the police and all that.
I blame the system for being set up this way, but I also blame us, blacks. Because we have ceased fire while the enemy is still shooting.
What I mean is that, the government pretended to give us freedom so we could calm down.
I know that some are going to disagree with me, but from a person who grew up watching the harsh realities of this country, I see no equality because it is more blacks than whites being targeted by the cops, it is more of our neighborhoods that are unsafe, and the list goes on. Most of us don’t even make it to college. Most of us end up getting locked up, dead or on the streets, many of us take the streets for a home.
Many of us were raised in the streets which means that many of us must be homeless, speaking metaphorically. How come our beloved country does not provide us with a home?
There are wars being fought overseas, but there is also civil wars being fought in our neighborhoods! But they don’t care about us.

I know that in many situations it seems that our options are limited, and I understand that.
What we need to do is wake up, I know we gotta eat and sometimes selling that pack seems like the only options, but think about it. You are risking many years, I know that life is not fair, the system is not fair, but you got to learn how to make it fair, and that is by being unfair if you know what I mean.
Instead of breaking the law, why don’t we try to change it? Nigus need to get the brave hearts back, all the movements that died out need to resurrect.
The key to life is education, so we need to educate ourselves as much as we can, our parents might try, but as long as we are not wiling to get that education, we are not going any where.

I know that shit is fucked up, that is just reality, and it is not going to change unless we change it. The world is yours, you do what you want with it because we all are part of this universe equally.

Life may not be fair, but death is, we only have one life to live, don’t let it pass by you because it is very short.

I hope you get the point that I wanted to get across.
